Our small city packs a punch
IN my first two months as chief executive of the region's local enterprise partnership, I have been inspired by what I have seen. Bristol is, in relative terms, a small city – but it packs a punch with its attitude. There is a sense of pride in the region and a special collective spirit here.
We are seeing a real collaboration between industry, local government, academia and the third sector driving us forward.
The West of England Local Enterprise Partnership is tasked with getting the economy moving and ensuring the region is controlled locally rather than by people in London.
Bristol is in a fantastic position but we need to do more to ensure future prosperity.

We are developing plans to market Bristol and Bath internationally and create a brand that can attract investment on a worldwide scale.
The Temple Quarter enterprise zone is our flagship product, surrounded by five enterprise areas in Avonmouth, Filton, Emersons Green, Bath Riverside and Junction 21 in Weston. As well as attracting business investment from around the UK and internationally, we want to make sure we are doing everything we can on our home turf to support local businesses...

How to Enter
The Going for Growth campaign gives firms a unique chance to apply for grants worth up to £1 million.
The West of England Local Enterprise Partnership is looking to hand out £25 million worth of funding to small and medium-sized enterprises.
The money is being made available to firms in five distinct areas:
There will also be an easy to follow online tutorial which will guide people through the application process.

- When capital investment is made by small and medium-sized enterprises
- Organisations planning to invest in training schemes
- Organisations involved in the recruitment of disabled and disadvantaged people
- Support for small firms created or launched be female entrepreneurs
