Big response already to our offer of grants to kick-start growth
JUST under 90 firms have already been in touch to express an interest in applying for grants as part of the Bristol Post's Going for Growth campaign.
Last week the Bristol Post, in partnership with the West of England Local Enterprise Partnership, launched one of the most ambitious campaigns in its history.
The Local Enterprise Partnership has a fund of £25 million to give to firms that are looking to expand or grow – with the only catch being that successful applicants have to prove that they are creating new jobs or safeguarding existing ones.
Firms can apply for grants of anywhere between £10,000 and £1 million providing they can prove that the money will help the company grow or will be used to fund research and development.
The campaign has already won the backing of leading businessmen and women along with former Government Minister Lord Heseltine – who was in Bristol for the launch of the campaign.

The aim is to sign up around 400 firms for the project and companies have until the end of July to apply for funding from the LEP fund.
Organisers say they are delighted to have had such a big response from local firms even though the appeal was only launched just over a week ago. The plan is to kick-start the economy back into life with the help of the grants at a time when many firms and private businesses are struggling to access traditional forms of funding.
As well has helping businesses to flourish and grow in the area the aim of the campaign is to create or safeguard at least 1,300 jobs at a time when the economy is still struggling to recover from one of the worst recessions in living memory...
